“Your business is Clarity of Vision? Are you an optometrist?” That’s the question I often hear when I tell people the name of my business. You see, when I named my business, I was a “former” writer starting a business and life coaching practice, helping people to attain what they desired in life by getting focused on their vision. I had started a couple of businesses and wanted to help others avoid the mistakes I had made.

But there’s this principle in the universe called the Law of Attraction, and it started working its magic in my life. Let me explain…

Twenty-five years ago, I was a technical writer working on manuals for computers and software for Microsoft, Tektronix, Sharp, and many others. I loved writing, but was facing burnout and looking for a new direction. I followed a dream and opened a restaurant. The learning was great, but the money wasn’t. I went back to writing, starting a freelance business. A couple of years later, I learned about a new profession called coaching, and enrolled at CoachU.

Here’s where the Law of Attraction began to work. My new coaching practice was still fledgling and I needed some extra cash. Relying on my knowledge of the writing and publishing world, I helped a friend publish his book. When I mentioned it to a few of my coaching colleagues, the word spread. My business began to morph. I was soon helping other coaches to become published in the traditional book market. In the past 10 years I’ve helped over 125 authors fulfill their dreams of writing and publishing a book.

As our world began to evolve around the Internet, I became more focused on using this phenomenal tool to market my own writing, and to pass what I learned on to my clients.

Oh, I’m still a life coach… and a business coach… and an Internet marketing coach… and a Social Media coach. Because being in the writing and publishing industry requires you to have knowledge of business, emerging technology, and marketing. But first, you must have a handle on life. That's where it all starts.

I consider myself a holistic coach. Mind, body, spirit, emotion, and finance are all energetic aspects of the life and business of writing. When even one of those areas is out of balance, the writing will be affected.
